Costa Rica has become a perfect site for university students to come and have the abroad experience. There are many US programs with a base in Costa Rica that offer Spanish courses, photography, biology and ecology classes. It is also a place where many universities have their investigation base, since Costa Rica offers a safe environment with one of the most mega biodiverse countries in the world. Environmental Organizations such as Neotropica, The Nature Conservancy and Friends of the earth international, among others, work in Costa Rica regularly.
Some of the spots where most scientific investigations take places are: Monteverde Cloud Forest, Sarapiqui, Guanacaste National Park and Osa Peninsula (Corcovado National Park).
In 1989 Costa Rican government founded an autonomous institution which purpose was to understand biological diversity, its conservation and uses. This institution was call InBio Park. A couple of years ago, the institution came back to the hands of the government and now it is undergoing major changes. A lot of founding to scientific research was gathered through this institution.
