    Costa Rica Solo Travel Adventure ITINERARY


    Day 1 - Arrive to San Jose (International Airport Juan Santamaria), Transfer to a hotel in San José. Overnight in San Jose.
    Welcome to Costa Rica!

    You will be met on your arrival to San Jose at Juan Santamaria International Airport by one of our company representative. Then you will be accompanied to your San Jose Hotel, located near the center of San Jose. That first night you will prepare for your adventure tours and enjoy the night life and gastronomy of the city.



    What to wear: Comfortable clothes.
    Transfer duration: From International Airport to San Jose the ride lasts 30 minutes aprox.
    Activity level: Easy.


    Day 2 - White Water Rafting Pacuare River (Class III-IV). Overnight at La Fortuna (Arenal Volcano) (BL)

    After breakfast we head to the Rio Pacuare for a wonderful Class III-IV White Water Rafting trip. It must be said that Pacuare River was categorized by National Geographic as one of the top 5 most scenic rivers for white water rafting in the world. After a brief introduction to paddling, we launch our rafts down the mighty Pacuare River. We traverse eight miles of remote and scenic waters that course through a wilderness of dense vegetation that completely covers the riverbank. The numerous rapids are interspersed with stretches of calm, tranquil water providing an opportunity to enjoy the surrounding tropical beauty.

    After a great day on the river, we head towards La Fortuna, where Arenal Volcano is located. Arenal is one of the world's most active volcanoes, thundering and blowing since 1968. Arenal is located in the Tilaran Mountains and dominates the background of today's tour. We explore its National Park, and hike its trails through the forest to a safe viewing observatory from which you may see the majestic volcano's fireworks.



    What to wear: Rubber-soled sandals, shorts or swimsuit, cap, towel, a dry set of clothes.
    Tour duration: One day tour.
    Transfer times: From La Fortuna to rafting base - 2 hour 30 minutes aprox.
    Activity level: Moderate.


    Day 3 -  Rappeling tour, Arenal Volcano hike and Baldi Hot Springs. Overnight at La Fortuna (BD)

    First thing in the morning, we head to one of the most adventurous tours you can experience in Costa Rica and specifically in the Arenal area. With 5 Rappels (4 waterfalls and 1 rock wall) in a rainforest, you will enjoy a rush of adrenaline and tons of fun. Have a vegetarian lunch on the base and head to the hotel to rest a little bit before your next tour. In the late afternoon, you will visit the Arenal Volcano lookout point, see the old dry lava from the Volcano explosion in 1968, and finish the day at the thermal waters of Baldi Hot Springs or Ecotermales, depeding on your expectations.



    What to wear: Rubber-soled sandals, shorts or swimsuit, cap, towel, a dry set of clothes.
    Transfer times: 25 min aprox.
    Tour duration: 5 hours.
    Activity level: Moderate.


    Day 4 - Transfer Van/Boat/Van to Monteverde. Night Walk at Valle Escondido. Overnight at Monteverde Area (B).

    Enjoy your last day in the area visiting the marvelous La Fortuna Waterfall. To get to the entrance of the trail you will be transported by horseback riding, and the walk down 400 steps to get to the bottom of the waterfall. You will have time to take pictures, enjoy the area and even take a swim on the little pond formed by the river fall.

    Back to the hotel, you will be picked up around 2:00 p.m. to head to Monteverde, where the cloud forest is located. The transfer is made taking a van to the Arenal Lake, then a boat through the lake and finally a van to your hotel in Monteverde.



    What to wear: Rubber-soled sandals, shorts or swimsuit, cap, towel, a dry set of clothes.
    Transfer times: 15 min aprox.
    Tour duration: 3 hours 30 minutes.
    Activity level: Moderate.


    Day 5 - Canopy Tour and Hanging Bridges experience on the Monteverde Reserve. Overnight at Monteverde (B).

    Continue the fun by experiencing one of the most famous tours in Costa Rica: the canopy tour. Enjoy the zip linning activity from the first place it was ever created, plus the adrenaline rush of the Tarzan Swing and the Hanging Bridges, also called Sky Walk through the cloud forest.

    In the late afternoon, you will have a chance to see the forest from yet another perspective: at night. Enjoy the night wildlife, the sounds and smells of nature on the dim hours of the day.



    What to wear: Cap, jacket, boots or tennis shoes, comfortable clothes.
    Transfer times: 20 min aprox.
    Tour duration: 5 hours
    Activity level: Moderate.


    Day 6 - Transfer to Manuel Antonio Beach, free time at Manuel Antonio. Overnight at Manuel Antonio (B).

    Just after a good breakfast, you will take a transfer to one of the most beautiful beaches in Costa Rica: Manuel Antonio. Located in the rain forest, Manuel Antonio combines mountain and beach to create a majestic landscape.



    What to wear: Comfortable clothes, boots or tennis shoes.
    Transfer times: 4 hours aprox.


    Day 7 - Manuel Antonio National Park Hike. Overnight at Manuel Antonio (B).

    Manuel Antonio National Park is perhaps one of the most popular National Parks in Costa Rica. Its fame comes from its white sand beaches backed by a lush green forest that grows right up to the high tide line. It is a paradisiacal place with primary and secondary forest, mangrove swamps, and lagoons. It is almost certain that you will see some wildlife, including monkeys, sloths and many species of birds. This tour is the perfect combination between beach time, and forest hikes!



    What to wear: swimming suit, towel, shorts, conformable clothes, and boots or tennis shoes.
    Transfer times: 15 min aprox.
    Tour duration:4 hours
    Activity level: Moderate.


    Day 8 - Transfer to San Jose. Overnight at San José Hotel (B)

    Enjoy your last day on the beach, just before you get transfer back to San Jose. You can decide if you want to stay in the beach the whole morning and travel in the afternoon, or if you prefer arriving early in San Jose and getting to know a little bit of the capital city of Costa Rica.



    What to wear: comfortable clothes, boots or tennis shoes.
    Transfer times: 3 hours aprox.


    Day 9 - Transfer Out (International Airport) (B)

    Depending on your flight information we will set your pick up time to be transferred to the International Airport. The international flight company policies states that travelers should be at the airport at least three hours in advance to make sure that everything is correct and that you will have time to go through security points.

    Costa Rica is a great country for solo travelers and we will tell you why. It is a country of peace, with no army; it is a country of highly educated people and with an environmental consciousness bigger than most places in earth. It is also a safe country to travel alone and to meet nice people to make acquaintances and experience nature and adventure in a new context.

    There is a market that is growing very fast and that its lead by single women travelers, who come to Costa Rica to enjoy its wonders and nature. If you are one of those independent travelers, probably you know all you need to travel solo, but if you are just beginning on this path and would like to know a little bit more, we can give you tips for going solo in Costa Rica.

    Traveling alone is about finding yourself and enjoying yourself in a different context. It is also the ultimate self-indulgence, since you do exactly what you want to do.     •  Ask a travel agency to give you some clues about the place you are visiting. Although the amount of information you can find on the web is incredibly big, sometimes it is less time consuming and more efficient to just ask a travel agency to guide you on this adventure.
    •  While solo traveling, don’t give away personal information. You don’t need to tell people that you are travelling alone, or give personal information that may put you on risk. 
    •  Leave a copy of your itinerary with family or friends, so they know how to find you and keep track of your vacations.
